CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Illinois basketball associate head coach Orlando Antigua will be honored by Illinois Treasurer Mike Frerichs, a former Champaign resident, as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. The event will take place on Wednesday, September 18, from Noon to 1 p.m. in the state government building at 555 W. Monroe St. in the Illinois Room on the first floor. This event is an opportunity to reflect on the great achievements of Hispanic Americans and present awards to leaders in the state.

Other honorees include the following:

  • Dr. Magdalena Perez, founder of Luna Behavioral Health Center, for Outstanding Service in Business
  • Daniel Barreiro, retired Chief Community Services Officer from the City of Aurora for Outstanding Service in Leadership
  • Antonio Martinez, Jr., President and CEO of Oak-Park River Forest Community Foundation for Outstanding Commitment to Community Service
  • Olga Nuñez-Johnson, Golden Apple Awardee at the Thomas Waters Elementary School (Chicago Public Schools), for Outstanding Commitment in Education
  • Antonio Martinez, Jr., President and CEO, Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation, for Outstanding Commitment to Community Service
  • Honorable Barbara Hernandez, Illinois State Representative, House Assistant Majority Leader, 50th District, as an Outstanding Commitment as an Elected Official
  • Juan Campos, Vice President at Large, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Secretary-Treasurer, Teamsters Local 705, Outstanding Achievement in Workforce and Labor
  • Monica Zanetti, Artist and Owner of Wild Rose, for Outstanding Achievement in Arts and Humanities
