SPRINGFIELD, IL (Chambana Today) – Total nonfarm jobs have increased in seven metropolitan areas in Illinois, while decreasing in seven others ending November 2024.
This information comes from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Illinois Department of Employment Security and over the same period, the unemployment rate rose in seven areas, decreased in five, and remained unchanged in two.
The largest percentage increase in total nonfarm jobs are as follows:
- Champaign-Urbana MSA: +1.7% (+2,200 jobs)
- Carbondale-Marion MSA: +1.3% (+800 jobs)
- Rockford MSA: +1.2% (+1,800 jobs)
- Springfield MSA: +1.2% (+1,300 jobs)
The metro areas with the largest percentage decrease are:
- Danville MSA: -1.5% (-400 jobs)
- Peoria MSA: -1.2% (-2,100 jobs)
Nonfarm jobs in the Chicago Metropolitan Division decreased by 0.2%, losing 6,700 jobs.
Metro areas with the largest unemployment rate increases were:
- Davenport-Moline-Rock Island IA-IL MSA: +1.3 points to 5.0%
- Chicago-Naperville-Arlington Heights Metropolitan Division: +1.0 point to 5.0%
- Danville MSA: +0.6 points to 5.9%
The area with the largest unemployment rate decrease was:
- Rockford MSA: -0.4 points to 5.2%
