2024 Junior Citizen’s Police Academy celebrates 24 new graduates

DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – The 2024 Junior Citizen’s Police Academy recently celebrated the completion of its program by 24 participants from the Vermilion County area.

The academy aims to teach young citizens about the inner workings of law enforcement. They learn various aspects of the police department with several activities including:

Touring the 911 Dispatch Center and the Book-in area of the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department.
Observing the K-9-unit work along with the Emergency Response Unit.
Virtual Reality training and Crime scene techniques.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Mayor Williams and Chief Yates presented each participant with a completion certificate and a congratulations. The Danville Police Department would like to thank everyone who presented to the graduates as well as all the individuals who participated in the academy.
