URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The League of Women Voters of Champaign County has invited Andrew Pritchard to present “Impact of Climate Change and Federal Cuts.”

This has been done to address the fact that meteorologists have been warning that weather patterns have been continuously changing. This increases our vulnerability to hazardous weather events. The program is scheduled for Zoom on Wednesday, April 23 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. concluding the Keeping it Local series for the program year.

Pritchard is the Senior Atmospheric Scientist at Nutrien Ag Solutions. He specializes in forecasting high-impact weather events, mitigating risks, and ensuring safety during disruptive storms. He also operates Chambana Weather and is the founder for SKYDRAMA Weather Company. He attended Parkland College and earned is B.S. in Meteorology from Northern Illinois University.

Pritchard will discuss the changing climate with a spotlight on central Illinois and its impacts on agriculture and the everyday person. He will also discuss funding cuts to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

“An award-winning meteorologist and weather risk communicator, Andrew Pritchard is dedicated to helping our community make informed decisions in the face of changing weather patterns,” shares program moderator Joan Tousey. “His passion for weather safety and storytelling makes him a trusted voice in the field, and the topic could not be more timely.”
