DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – The Vermilion Advantage was informed that the Attorney General filed a motion to vacate the permanent injunction and restore the firing range at the Danville Correctional Facility.
This would mean the lifting of the court order that initially prohibited the firing range at the Danville Correctional Facility. The injunction was originally granted because the range negatively impacted businesses in the area. The east side of Danville is, which includes the firing range, also includes attractions such as the Golden Nugget Casino, Salt Grass Steakhouse, and most of the community’s hotels.
Vermilion Advantage President Mike Marron stated, “The sound of live firing of weapons is severely detrimental to business and will have an adverse effect on business retention and development. Imagine enjoying a drink on the patio at Salt Grass to the sound of rifle fire or bringing in an international customer to one of our manufacturing facilities as gun shots ring out in the air.”
Vermilion Advantage will be holding an informational meeting at Salt Grass Steakhouse, 204 Eastgate Drive, on Wednesday, February 19th at 9:00 A.M., to organize opposition to this motion.
