CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Boneyard Creek is hosting its 2025 Community Day, marking their 20th year.

Boneyard Creek Community Day is a way to celebrate and protect the lakes and streams with volunteers who decide to clean. Litter causes more litter which clogs storm drains and harms aquatic life. The event reminds citizens to put trash in its place. Volunteers must wear no open-toed shoes and participants getting into the creek must wear boots. Please wear your orange Boneyard shirt from a previous year if you have one.

Cleanup activities start at 9:00 a.m. Lunch, music, and educational displays at Scott Park will be provided following the clean-up.

Location sites include:

  • Scott Park
  • Kaufman Lake/Heritage Park
  • Boulware Trail
  • Anita Purves
  • Boneyard Creek Crossing
  • Savoy Rt 45
  • UI Campus
  • North Prospect
  • Perkins Road

Whether it’s a class volunteer project or a way to bring the family together, Community Day is a great way to restore the natural beauty of Boneyard Creek. To register online, visit boneyardcreek.org. The deadline to register online is April 5. Onsite registration at Scott Park will be available.
