CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign County Environmental Stewards (CCES) is announcing the public phase for a new Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection facility.
This project will be 5,800 square feet in scale and about $2.85 million. An information meeting will be taking place on Wednesday, December 11 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Lodgic Coworking, Illini Plaza. The CCES is currently approaching the halfway point in its fundraising efforts to address the need for a new HHW facility. The meeting will allow individuals to ask questions and learn more about the facility.
The nearest HHW facility is 2.5 to 3 hours away resulting in improper disposal of waste which can contaminate water supplies, cause medical issues, and damage infrastructure. The new structure will be located at 901 Saline Court, Urbana and will reduce the risk and damages allowing residents to dispose of hazardous waste.
