CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign Fire Department (CFD) recently responded to a fire in a single-family home on Monday.
The fire was in a residence in the 1200 block of Joanne Lane at 5:11 a.m. The crew responded to the report from the occupant of the home. Upon arrival on the scene, they reported moderate smoke coming from the attic and deployed a single hose line into the home. They were luckily able to get the fire under control and fully extinguished it.
Both firefighters and the occupants were uninjured after the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and is currently unknown. The CFD would like to remind the public that when the smoke alarm sounds, get out and stay out. While escaping through smoke, stay low to the ground and close the doors behind you.
