Champaign County Sheriff’s Office hosts annual Shop with a Cop Event

CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign County Sheriff’s Department (CCSD) was joined by other organizations in its annual Shop with a Cop event on Saturday, December 7.

This event was a collaboration between the CCSD, U of I PD, Gifford PD and the Savoy Fire Department bringing joy and holiday spirit to 24 children. The children started their day with donuts and a ride to Walmart for a memorable Christmas shopping spree. The morning then ended with a pizza and ice cream party.

Shop with a Cop aims to provide a unique holiday experience for children and their families who don’t have the opportunity.The success is made possible through donations from community members and local business. The children selected for the event are chosen with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office’s School Resource Officers (SROs) who work in rural Champaign County K-12 schools.
