CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign Fire Department (CFD) recently responded to an exterior fire at a single-family home.

The CFD received reports from the occupant of the home and rushed onto the scene on Thursday, October 24, at 9:17 p.m. They then observed smoke and fire emanating from the exterior of the single-family home on the 3200 block of York Drive and immediately deployed a single hose line and efficiently extinguished the flames.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, attributed to improperly disposed smoking materials. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among the firefighters or occupants of the home.
