CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign Police Department (CPD) invites the community to join them in the Protect & Feed competition. Champaign Police, Protect & Feed, Eastern Illinois Foodbank, food drive, community support, non-perishable food, Urbana Police, University of Illinois Police, Parkland College Police, Rantoul Police, Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, Giving Tuesday, food repacking event, fight against hunger, holiday season, community benefit.

This initiative aims to support and provide for the Easter Illinois Foodbank. The event is a friendly competition that pits the CPD against five other local agencies in a race to collect the most non-perishable food items in the spirit of giving this holiday season. From November 8th to November 22nd, Champaign residents are encouraged to drop off their donations at the CPD lobby.

“As much as we want to win the friendly competition, knowing that our community is benefitting from all of the donations makes all of us winners,” said the CPD in a Facebook post.

The lobby is located at located at 82 E. University Avenue, Champaign. Other participating agencies include the Urbana, University of Illinois, Parkland College, and Rantoul Police Departments, and the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.

But wait, there’s more! On Giving Tuesday, December 3, the CPD will be participating in another competition against other agencies in a food repacking event at the Food Bank’s volunteer center, providing another opportunity for police and community members to come together and make an impact in the fight against hunger.
