CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign Police Department (CPD) recently released the results of a traffic safety campaign in which they recorded several road violations.

The campaign was conducted to promote safer driving on the road, reduce speeds, and save lives. Champaign Police officers say they were committed to about 44 hours of traffic enforcement focusing mostly on arterial routes that impact neighborhoods. The effort was coordinated along with the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois State Police, and more than 200 local law enforcement agencies.

The results are as follows:

• 46 citations and two written warnings for speeding
• One child safety seat violation
• One felony arrest and illegal gun recovery
• Three citations issued for driving without a valid license
• Four citations issued for expired registration
• One warning for improper lane usage
