CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office has filed a Motion for Injunctive Relief in Champaign County Court to request the extension of voting hours in Champaign County.
The motion would extend the voting hours to 9:00 p.m. in Champaign County to compensate for the hours that voters couldn’t vote in the morning. The usual hours for voting is 6:00 a.m. and close on 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. According to the press release, there were significant connectivity issues with the County’s election services vendor, Platinum, preventing voters from being able to vote in the morning.
This issue lasted from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., causing about two hours of downtime at the polls. Luckily, the connection was restored, and voters were once again able to vote. . The hearing for the request will be at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom F in front of Judge Ben Dyer. This will be a public hearing, with anyone welcome to attend.
