CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The City of Champaign is hosting the Community Development Week Kickoff Celebration.

According to the Council of State Community Development Agencies, National Community Development Week was created in 1986 by the National Community Development Association and other organizations to bring attention to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) when the program was facing scrutiny by Congress. It also provides the opportunity to support the HOME Investment Partnerships program. The point of week is to raise awareness of the impact and need for CDBG and HOME funding.

The Community Development Week Kickoff Celebration takes place on Monday, April 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Neighborhood Services Department in Champaign. Champaign City Council Members will be in attendance. For more information, contact the Neighborhood Services Department at (217) 403-7070.
