DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – A Danville man was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

On Monday, February 10 at about 4:45 p.m., a Danville Police Officer stopped a vehicle in the area of East Williams and North Collett Streets in Danville for a registration violation. The car was then investigated with officers finding open alcohol inside of the vehicle leading to further investigation. A passenger in the car was identified as 25-year-old Elijah T. Staple of Danville and officers found two firearms on him.

Staple did not possess a Concealed Carry license in the State of Illinois and he was subsequently arrested and transported to the Public Safety Building. He was then booked on charges of Aggravated unlawful Use of a Weapon. The Danville Police Department reminds the public that an arrest is merely an accusation and all subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
