DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – Danville Police Officers arrested an individual who possessed a loaded firearm and illegal drugs.

The officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Tuesday, March 25 at around 11:30 p.m. around Cleveland Street and Griffin Street. The officer witnessed the vehicle commit several moving violations and turned on the car’s emergency lights. The suspect then fled and refused to pull over. The chase eventually proceeded on foot in the area of Victory Street and Cleveland Street. Officers eventually caught the man and placed him under arrest.

The officers located a loaded firearm and illegal drugs. He was identified as 26-year-old Marcus J Batts of Urbana. He was then arrested and transported to the Vermilion Public Safety Building and was booked on charges of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Armed Violence, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Obstructing/Resisting a Police Officer, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and for being Wanted on a Warrant.

The Danville Police Department reminds the public that all subjects arrested are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
