DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – Members of the Danville Police Department Problem Oriented Policing Unit stopped a vehicle with a illegally possessed loaded firearm.
The arrest happened around Wednesday, January 22, 9:00 p.m. on the Interstate 74 at the 217-mile marker for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as 25-year-old Curtis E. Compton of Kingman, IN. The officers found that Compton had a suspended driver’s license and a warrant for arrest in Indiana for drug charges. The officers found a loaded firearm on Compton upon further investigation.
Compton found not to have the necessary license to possess and carry a firearm in Illinois and was charged for that violation. Officers then arrested Compton and took him to the Public Safety Building where he was booked for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Wanted on a Warrant, and Driving While License suspended.
