DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – Danville Police Officers responded to a homicide this Monday afternoon.

On Monday, April 7 at around noon, Danville officers responded to an address at the 700 block of Sherman Street after Vermilion County 911 Communications received a call of a deceased body found inside a residence. Upon arrival, officers located a body and initiated a crime scene investigation. The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit assisted the Danville police Department (DPD). Upon investigation, the Vermilion County coroner’s office identified the male victim as 41-year-old Monty E. Peplow of Danville.

An autopsy will be completed tomorrow and the investigation is being considered a homicide. The DPD is questioning a person of interest in this incident. The DPD does not believe there is a further threat to the community and no further information can be provided at this time. This is a developing story.
