MANSFIELD, IL (Chambana Today) – The Piatt County Sheriff’s Office (POSO) collaborated with the Champaign Police Department (CPD) in a five-hour-long standoff.
Members of the POSO with the assistance of the CPD executed a search warrant on October 24 at approximately 2:30 p.m. The residence that the warrant was issued to was on the 500 Block of W. Oliver Street in the Village of Mansfield. The individual had barricaded himself within the residence and law enforcement had to involve Champaign Police Department SWAT and METRO Swat Teams, along with negotiators.
The standoff lasted about 5 hours until it came to a peaceful conclusion at 7:45 p.m. The male subject was then taken into custody and transported to the Champaign County Jail.
