CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Illinois State Police Troop 7 announced a series of traffic advisories following incidents on I-74 eastbound.

At approximately 5:58 a.m. today, Master Sergeant Nicholas Orndorff reported a large amount of standing water across the eastbound lanes of I-74, just east of I-57 and encouraged drivers to exercise caution. In response to this, the I-57 northbound (N/B) to I-74 E/B ramp was closed, and I-74 E/B traffic was temporarily detoured onto US Route 150 at Exit 174 (Prairieview Rd.) to help crews to clear out a plugged drainage structure.

Another traffic advisory was reported due to a crash at 6:41 a.m. by Master Sergeant Ryan K. Fuoss. I-74 E/B traffic was detoured at Mansfield (MP 166) onto US Route 150, and the eastbound lanes to Prospect Avenue (MP 180) remained closed due to standing water. As of 8:27 a.m., reports indicate that I-74 E/B is now open at MP 166 (Mansfield Exit) and at MP 179 (I-57). However, traffic will be reduced to one lane of travel on I-74 E/B at MP 172 (Mahomet) and MP 179 (I-57) due to extensive cleanup operations being conducted by emergency crews.
