MAROA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal (DCI) Investigation Zone 5 recently announced their arrest of a Maroa man for multiple Class X felonies.
36-year-old man Matthew R. Broadhacker of Maroa, Illinois was taken in for Attempted Murder, Aggravated Domestic Battery, and Aggravated Battery. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 28 where the local Maroa Police Department (MPD) responded to a call on the 400 block of North Maple Street. The MPD officers came onto the scene to find a female victim stricken with life-threatening burn injuries. She was rushed to the hospital and Broadhacker, who remained on scene, was immediately taken into custody.
ISP DCI Zone 5 agents were called in by the MPD to investigate this incident. On Tuesday, October 1 he was charged with the aforementioned Class X felonies and remains at the Maroa County Jail as of now. The ISP would like to remind the public that charges are not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
