CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 7 Commander, Acting Captain Heather Apperson recently announced the results of their Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols (OREP).

These patrols were held on December 31, 2024 and provided extra coverage to monitor whether vehicle occupants were buckled up. Safety belts can save lives, yet some individuals still neglect to use them. These patrols enforce the message that lives could be saved if people simply buckled up. The project was funded through the Department of Transportation.

  • Occupant Restraint Offenses: 2
  • Registration Offenses: 0
  • Driver’s License Offenses: 2
  • Insurance Violations: 2
  • Total Citations/Arrests: 33
  • Total Written Warnings: 2
