CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign Park District (CPD) announced that pickleball leagues are starting back up this fall. If you’re looking for a sport to pick up, a fun new activity with friends, or even a little exercise, pickleball may be the sport for you.

Pickleball is a blend of tennis and ping-pong, usually played one-on-one or two-versus-two. It’s played on a badminton sized court with paddles similar to ping-pong paddles with a net in the middle similar to tennis. The sport has quickly grown in popularity as a fun activity for all ages.

The CPD has adult pickleball leagues varying in difficulty from beginner, mixed and intermediate. There are men’s and women’s solo and doubles leagues.  Whether you’re looking for something to do this fall or want to sharpen your pickleball skills, the CPD says you’re welcome to join the CPD pickleball league.

Registration deadlines are as follows:

  • Tuesday’s beginner and intermediate mixed pickleball registration ends August 20, 2024
  • Beginner and intermediate men’s and women’s doubles pickleball registration ends August 22, 2024
  • Free agent pickleball registration ends September 4, 2024
