Lake of the Woods bike trail closing this September

The bike trail, famous for its scenic view as bikers drive down the path, is going to be shut down for a milling and resurfacing.

MAHOMET, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign County Forest Preserve will temporarily close the Lake of the Woods’ bike trail in September.

The bike trail, known for its scenic view, will be closed for milling and resurfacing from September 9, 2024 through October 2, 2024. To complete this project, the trail must be completely shut down to the public with no public access available.

Due to the nature of the reconstruction, Buffalo Trace Prairie will be closed while the contractors are on site. Parking lots will also be closed at Crowley Rd., Rte. 47, and Hawthorne Hill. For more information and updates, visit champaignforests.org.
