CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – It was recently announced that the musical ensemble Mannheim Steamroller will be performing at the historic Virginia Theater in Champaign on Sunday, December 29, 2024.
Mannheim Steamroller, a neoclassical new-age music ensemble by Chip Davis, announced Monday that it will be performing in December as a part of its 2024 Christmas tour. The show will feature hits from the Mannheim Christmas album with 15 musicians playing over 20 instruments and multimedia effects. The Christmas concert tour is an annual event that has run for over 35 years and has traveled over 40 million miles, making it the longest running Christmas tour in the entertainment industry.
“I remember when I came out with my first Christmas album in 1984 followed by our first tour. Back then, many in the music industry said focusing on Christmas just wouldn’t work,” said Davis.
“Now, over 35 years later, we are still going strong. I want to thank our fans for making us part of their holiday tradition. Today we often see multi-generational families join us during the holidays each year,” said Davis.
The musical ensemble has sold over 41 million albums, 31.5 million Christmas albums, and its holiday CDs are on Billboard’s Seasonal Chart every single year. Mannheim Steamroller Christmas will feature popular tracks including “Deck the Halls,” “We Three Kings,” and “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen.”
Tickets can be purchased starting Friday, July 26, 10:00 A.M., at the Virginia Theatre Box Office, online at TheVirginia.org, or charge by phone at 217-356-9063.
