AP NEWS (Chambana Today) – The Mega Millions jackpot recently surpassed $1 billion with no tickets matched.

So far, no number has matched all six numbers drawn on Christmas Eve, which means the estimated jackpot for Friday’s drawing is approximately $1.15 billion. This potentially could be the fifth-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history.

”We know that many people will likely receive tickets to Friday’s drawing as holiday gifts, and what a gift that would turn out to be if you ended up with a ticket worth a $1.15 billion jackpot,” said Joshua Johnston, lead director for the Mega Millions Consortium.

These current odds of a jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350 and the odds of winning any prize is 1 in 24, according to lottery officials. Tickets are sold in 45 states and are $2 a ticket. Drawings are held at 11:00 p.m. EST on Tuesdays and Fridays.
