URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD) recently announced significant changes to transportation options around Southwest Champaign and Northeast Urbana.
These changes are meant to be more convenient and more consistent for commuters alike. In Northeast Urbana, MTD is launching a service called Northeast Connect which is a van service that “will allow for flexible travel within a defined service boundary and to/from the Lincoln Square transfer point in downtown Urbana,” said the MTD in a press release. It will complement the evening and weekend 110 Ruby route and will be active on weekdays 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The MTD has also made improvements to its West Connect van service in Southwest Champaign. The boundaries have recently expanded to include Carle at the Fields, making it more convenient to travel to medical facilities and businesses. All of these changes will be put into effect by Monday, August 12. These Connect services will cost $1 for a one-way trip or can be covered by a valid bus pass, DASH Card, or I-Card.
Passengers can request a trip using the MTD Connect app or by calling (217) 384-8188. For more information visit mtd.org.
