CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The Giertz Gallery at Parkland College has announced the scholarship and award recipients of its 58th Annual Juried Student Art and Design Exhibition, currently on display through Saturday, May 9.
The exhibition features nearly 175 student works produced over the past year across disciplines including photography, painting, drawing, ceramics, metals, and design. Works were selected by Parkland art faculty from student submissions.
Two students received scholarships: Rachel Light earned the Underwood-Alger Art Scholarship and the Arrowmont-Wingate Scholarship, and Daryna Fekete received the Don Lake Art Scholarship.
Among the monetary award recipients, Nirvana Arroyo and Elise McClanahan each received the Parkland President’s Award of Excellence. Other honors went to Lynndsay Talbott, who received the Blair Kling Memorial Award; Kristin Darling, who earned the Chair Award for Excellence in Photography; and Betty Kennerly, who received the Chair Award for Excellence in Two-Dimensional Design. Additional awards went to Emma Lang, Rae Ward, Wren Hultz, Amira Johnson, Kevin Mikulich, and Anna Diamani. Fae Allen received purchase awards for two works to be added to the Parkland College permanent collection.
Seventeen students received Merit Awards for outstanding work.
The gallery is free and open to the public. Hours are Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, noon to 3 p.m. More information is available at parkland.edu/gallery.
