URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) — A 14-year-old boy was hospitalized with a non-life-threatening injury after a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Urbana, according to police.
Officers and detectives with the Urbana Police Department responded to the 1600 block of Ivanhoe Way at approximately 4:11 p.m. June 2 following reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they located the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound to his hand.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Carle Hospital for treatment. Police said the injury was not considered life-threatening.
Investigators spent several hours processing the scene and interviewing witnesses. According to police, multiple people were present during the incident, but detectives have received limited information about what led to the shooting.
No arrests had been announced as of Tuesday evening, and police have not released information about a possible suspect.
