SPRINGFIELD, IL (Chambana Today) – The U.S. 36 in Tuscola will be closing overnight on April 12.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the closure of the eastbound U.S. 36 under Interstate 57 in Tuscola. The closure is necessary to replace a damaged beam from a strike on the I-57 overpass and will take place from 9 p.m. April 12 to 5 a.m. April 13.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
