DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – A business launched out of the University of Illinois was recently featured on the Forbes 30 Under 30 List for 2025.
According to Forbes, the company DeepWalk was launched right out of the University of Illinois in 2019 by Anshul Shah and Brandon Yates. Deepwalk’s sole purpose was to improve sidewalks with planning software to allow cities to more easily be in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. This is done with iPhone LiDAR scanners, allowing city maintenance staff to scan the sidewalks for accessibility.
Using this data, the company’s software can generate planning, construction, and maintenance documents. This data allows the city to much more easily make sidewalks ADA-compliant and saves a lot more time that goes into gathering and generating this data. DeepWalk has raised $2 million and has worked with 39 cities, counties, universities and state transportation departments to inspect 1,600 miles of sidewalks.
