University of Illinois Extension hosts Pumpkin Smash event

DECATUR, IL (Chambana Today) – University of Illinois Extension in Macon County and Rock Springs Nature Center invite everyone to a Pumpkin Smash.

The Pumpkin Smash is an event that is fun while also helping the environment. The University of Illinois Extension requests that the public bring their pumpkins while also removing candles, ribbons, non-acrylic paint, or other non-organic materials. A variety of fun smashing methods will be provided for all ages and will be a fun and engaging experience.

At the end of the event, all pumpkins will be transported to a facility where they will be composted. Individuals participating in this event are encouraged to bring canned food for the Northeast Community Fund, but are not required to pay any fee for entry.
