URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The City of Urbana Fire Department (UFD) recently congratulated members on a job well done during a cardiac arrest save.

UFD EMS service officers and Battalion Chief Mark Ashby recognized an impressive cardiac arrest save on Sunday, September 6 from, not only their members, but also members of their new partnership with Arrow Ambulance. On the day of, at approximately 8:32p.m., Engine 251 (E251) was dispatched to an elderly female who was not responsive and was not breathing. Along with the assistance of Arrow Ambulance Medic 225 (M225), E251 worked hard to save the woman’s life.

Through the use of teamwork and communication, M225 and E251 provided life-saving measures and got the patient’s heart beating normally after the cardiac arrest. This was achieved in an astounding 7 minutes from time of dispatch all the way up to the return of spontaneous circulation. The following members were awarded a Certificate of Achievement for their outstanding work:
