URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – Urbana Grants Division – Community Development Services Department recently announced the establishment of Sustaining Urbana Neighborhoods, which funds climate friendly projects.
The SUN program aims to promote sustainability and climate resiliency within the Urbana community. The program aims to provide funding to programs, services, or small-scale improvement projects that follow a certain climate friendly set of criteria. The target grant amount is about $10,000 per project and the total grant funding is $100,000. Priority will be given to Urbana’s Community Development Target Areas.
The criteria for funding is:
- Promotes healthy, sustainable, community living
- Fosters creativity and collaboration to enhance climate resiliency
- Includes diverse, multi-generational Urbana residents in the process of creating climate related actions and strategies
The project must also be a nonprofit entity or an individual/group with a nonprofit sponsor. Grant applications open on September 3, 2024 and end on November 4, 2024. Awards will be announced late November 2024. For more information, visit urbanaillinois.us/sungrant.
