URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Urbana School District #116 Board of Education is opening applications for the Sub-District 1 and Sub-District 6 Board of Education Seats.

The opening is in anticipation of vacancies and the person appointed will serve until April 2027. To apply, interested individuals must submit a completed statement of interest form, a current resume, and a letter that includes reasons for wanting to serve on the Urbana School District #116 Board of Education must be turned in by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 31 to 1101 E. University, Suite B in Urbana. These materials must be placed in a sealed envelope to the attention: School Board President, Paul Poulosky or via email to Board Recording Secretary, Lori Johnson: lajohnson@usd116.org.

At a minimum, applicants for the School Board position must:

  • Be a United States Citizen
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment
  • Be a resident of sub-district 1 or 6
  • Be a registered voter
  • Not be a child sex offender
  • Not hold another incompatible public office
  • Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District
  • Not hold certain types of prohibited State or federal employment
