URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – An incredible father, brother, and friend, Wesley Robert Pierson, 65, of Urbana, IL, passed away at 10:02 AM, September 30, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Wes was born on May 15, 1959, in Lansing, Michigan, where he spent several years with his parents, Bob and Jean Pierson, his two brothers, Brad and Blake, and sister Jenn. From a young age, Wes and his siblings maintained a fun, loving, and competitive relationship with each other.
Along with his competitive spirit came his love and passion for sports. An avid golfer and basketball player throughout his high school years in both Gainesville, FL and Macomb, IL, he thrived on being active, working hard, and playing with teammates turned friends.
In his college years, Wes attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a biology major. Amidst difficult courses, he still made the most of his college years by utilizing campus sporting facilities, working at Kentucky Fried Chicken after class, and attending numerous concerts on campus, from Boston, to REO Speedwagon, to Journey. His love for music was apparent, and his memory for songs and artists unmatched.
Wes graduated Pharmacy School at the University of Iowa before ultimately returning to Urbana, IL, to work at Osco Drug Pharmacy at Marketplace Mall, and eventually managing CVS Pharmacy on Philo Road in Urbana for the duration of his career. He played a large role in mentoring pharmacy technicians into becoming future pharmacists, and cherished the time he spent with coworkers he considered his best friends.
In his retirement, Wes’ love for golf never faltered, and he spent many days playing on courses throughout Central Illinois. He spent his last days surrounded by family and friends who meant the world to him.
He is survived by his two daughters, Grace Pierson of Houston, TX, and Bess Pierson of San Diego, CA. Also surviving are three siblings, Brad Pierson of Champaign, IL, Blake Pierson of Spring Hill, TN, and Jennifer Remington of Flagstaff, AZ.
Condolences may be offered at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory.
