CHICAGO, IL (Chambana Today) – A man from Southern Illinois recently won one million dollars after buying a scratch-off Illinois Lottery Instant Ticket.
The ticket was purchased at a Circle K gas station in Mount Vernon, Illinois and the winner requested to stay anonymous. The individual plans on taking the money and spending it on a new house and a hopefully earlier retirement. The Circle K will also receive a selling bonus of $10,000.
“My girlfriend scratched the ticket and kept on staring at it and saying, ‘This can’t be right, this can’t be right’ – so I took a look and then ended up saying the same thing,” said the anonymous winner. “Once it sank in that we had won $1 million, we were both dumbfounded and happy at the same time – a moment we will never forget.”
The Illinois lottery has sold over 2.5 million lottery tickets this month with over $63.7 million in prizes distributed to lucky winners. Over $24 billion has been provided to the State’s Common School Fund in support of public education by the Illinois lottery with the fund receiving over 99% of the proceeds.
