The fair covers topis from Industrial Technology to family consumer science, business to skilled trades. Students will discover their passions and develop successful postsecondary plans. The public and the media are invited to attend. The fair is located at Champaign Central High School at Combs Gym.
This will be an outdoor workshop which means participants should dress for the weather and bring gloves and pruning tools if available. Registration is open until one day before the event at go.illinois.edu/FruitTree.
“The job of being a teacher is just mentally straining, like psychologically, it’s just so much that goes on,” said Turner. “But now that I’ve had these experiences, there is no way that I can ignore the calling that God has given me to enter education.”

Julien, a student who mentored younger students at Cunningham’s Gerber School, transitioned to Urbana High School. With uncertainty, he started with a single photography class. There were challenges and he would occasionally refute going to class, but he always went.
In previous years, UHS has participated in the plunge at the Lake of The Woods in Mahomet. The event is put on by Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run, who is partnered with Special Olympics throughout the year.
The tour takes place from 10:00 a.m. to noon departing at Champaign’s Douglass Center at 504 E. Grove St. Entry is $10 per adult and $5 per child aged 17 and under. Reservations are required at ccafricanamericanheritage.org/community-tours.
For high school students interested in pursuing journalism, hands-on experience is invaluable. One lucky student in the Champaign-Urbana area will get the chance to learn about online newswriting, as well as radio broadcast news.
The Civics Bee is an opportunity for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to show off their knowledge of civics and government. Students who are knowledgeable in civics education develop soft skills employers need.
