The University of Illinois Board of Trustees has approved Charles Lee Isbell Jr. as the next chancellor of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and vice president of the University of Illinois System, following a unanimous vote during a special board meeting.
A fight in Champaign escalated Sunday night when two teenagers were shot, one of them critically. According to Champaign Police, officers were dispatched to Burr Oak Court at 10:19 p.m. following reports of a shooting with injuries.

OSF HealthCare has announced a major transformation aimed at strengthening care delivery across east central Illinois. As part of the changes, OSF HealthCare Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana and OSF HealthCare Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville will merge into a single hospital operating across two campuses, effective January 1, 2026, pending regulatory approval.
