URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – 19-year-old Tyjohn Williams was sentenced to over five decades in prison on Monday after being convicted of the 2022 murder of Lyft driver Kristian Philpotts. Williams was found guilty of four counts of first-degree murder following a bench trial in November.
The fatal shooting occurred on the night of January 12, 2022, and police initially suspected an attempted robbery as the motive. However, the true motive was never disclosed during the trial.
Williams will spend the next 50+ years behind bars for his crime.
