DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – A Danville woman was arrested late Friday evening following a traffic stop that uncovered a stolen firearm and illegal substances. At around 9:45 p.m. on March 14, officers from the Danville Police Department’s Community Housing Unit (C.H.U.) stopped a vehicle in the area of W. English and N. Walnut Streets for a registration violation.
The driver, identified as 22-year-old Shatiya T. Brigham of Danville, was found to be in possession of open alcohol and illegal cannabis inside the vehicle. Further investigation revealed a loaded, stolen firearm on Brigham’s person.
Brigham was arrested and transported to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building, where she was booked on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a stolen firearm, and driving with a suspended/revoked/canceled registration.
