CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – After falling short of an NCAA Tournament bid in the 2023-24 season, the Illinois women’s basketball team has earned a return to the postseason as an eight-seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Illini are set to compete in Regional 3, opening their tournament in Austin, Texas, where they will face nine-seed Creighton on Saturday, March 22.
This marks the third consecutive year under head coach Shauna Green that Illinois has received an invitation to a postseason tournament. The team enters the tournament with a 21-9 overall record and an 11-7 mark in Big Ten play. Illinois was riding a strong eight-game win streak before suffering three straight losses to end the regular season and falling to Nebraska in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament.
