CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Parkland College Theatre will wrap up its 2024–25 season with a lively production of The Wedding Singer, running from April 17 to May 4 at the Harold and Jean Miner Theatre. Based on the popular Adam Sandler movie, with a sparkling score and a story filled with heart and humor, The Wedding Singer offers a nostalgic journey through one of the most iconic decades in pop culture.
The story is set in 1985, following Robbie Hart, a charming but heartbroken wedding singer, who has lost his own fiancée at the altar. As he navigates his personal heartbreak, he finds himself trying to stop Julia, a sweet waitress he’s fallen for, from marrying a Wall Street businessman. Will Robbie’s performance at the wedding of the decade help him win the love of his life?
Directed by Jacob Deters, the production features a talented cast including Jake Fava, Kirby Toalson, Russell Zillman, Anna Mettes, and Griffin Megeff, along with a dedicated ensemble. Caitlin Richardson will direct the music, while Whitney Havice brings the choreography to life.
Performances will be held on April 17, 18, 19, 25, 26, and May 2 and 3 at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances on April 27 and May 4 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $18 for students, youth, seniors, and veterans. Opening night offers a half-price ticket at $12.50.
For the 2025–26 season, Parkland Theatre will begin with Out of Order in October, followed by Moon Over Buffalo, Romeo and Juliet, and Anastasia.
