CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in an armed robbery that took place last month at a local gas station.
The incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. on March 20 at the Circle K located at University Avenue and Wright Street. According to officials, a man entered the store armed with a knife and demanded money from the register.
When the store employee refused to comply, a struggle broke out, resulting in a minor injury to the employee. The suspect fled the scene shortly after, taking merchandise as he left.
Security cameras captured images of the suspect, who is described as a Black male, approximately 35 to 40 years old, with a beard and missing front teeth. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a dark hoodie featuring a white American flag on the front and dark sweatpants.
