CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – An 86-year-old Mattoon woman critically injured in a crash at her nursing home has died, according to the Champaign County Coroner.
Carol Wilson, a resident of Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home, passed away in Urbana after being struck by a vehicle that crashed into the facility earlier this month. Coles County Coroner Ed Schniers confirmed Wilson was among two residents hit during the crash.
82-year-old Sharon Harpster, another resident, was also struck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, 54-year-old Curtis Meadows, is facing DUI charges and has pleaded not guilty. Meadows admitted to smoking a “few hours” before the crash. He remains in custody following a court appearance last week.
