URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – Dunkin’ locations across Central Illinois hosted law enforcement officers as they climbed onto rooftops for the 22nd annual “Cop on a Rooftop” event, raising funds for Special Olympics Illinois.
The event is part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a statewide effort supporting athletes with intellectual disabilities. Officers from departments throughout the region, including the University of Illinois Police Department and the Urbana Police Department, participated.
Chloe Fowkes, from the Urbana Police Department, highlighted the department’s ongoing involvement: “We do a lot of outreach with athletes from this region,” she said. “It’s more than just a fundraiser — it’s about building lasting connections and showing up for our community.”
Dunkin’ guests who donated received free coffee and other items as a thank-you. Since its inception in 2003, Cop on a Rooftop has raised nearly $10 million for Special Olympics Illinois programs. More information about the initiative can be found at specialolympics.org.
