CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Former Fighting Illini women’s basketball standout Genesis Bryant has been selected to participate in the 2025 BTN Experience, a prestigious seminar hosted by the Big Ten Network for former Big Ten student-athletes interested in sports media careers. Bryant is one of just 16 athletes chosen for the four-day event, taking place June 23–26 at BTN Studios in Chicago.

The Jonesboro, Georgia, native brings a strong media résumé to the seminar. During her collegiate career, Bryant served as a color analyst on B1G+ broadcasts, contributed play-by-play and sideline coverage for wheelchair basketball and softball, and hosted Illinois’ 2025 Oskees banquet. She also represented the Illini as a social media correspondent during Big Ten Women’s Basketball Media Days.

Bryant, who earned her undergraduate degree in communication in 2024 and is set to complete her master’s in management from the Gies College of Business in August 2025, was recognized for her academic excellence as a two-time Academic All-District and Winter Academic All-Big Ten honoree.

On the court, Bryant was a four-time Second Team All-Big Ten selection and played a key role in Illinois’ 2024 WBIT championship and two NCAA Tournament appearances. She leaves the program ranked among the all-time leaders in scoring (1,430 points), 3-pointers made (207), assists (345), and free throw percentage (87.7%).

The BTN Experience will offer participants hands-on opportunities in studio analysis, live game commentary, and digital content creation, guided by BTN executives and on-air talent. Attendees will leave with a video reel of their work and valuable industry feedback.
