URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) — The Eastern Illinois Foodbank is calling on community members to roll up their sleeves and lend a hand during its upcoming Community Repack event on Thursday, June 5, at its Volunteer Center in Urbana.

The event will run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at 2405 N. Shore Drive, where volunteers will help repackage bulk food donations into smaller, distributable portions for families and individuals facing food insecurity across the region.

This event is open to both individuals and groups, but pre-registration is required, and all participants are asked to stay for the full duration of the shift. To maintain safety and hygiene, volunteers should avoid wearing open-toe shoes, tank tops, or dangling jewelry, and refrain from bringing phones or food into the repack area.

Directions to the Volunteer Center include driving to the end of the cul-de-sac on North Shore Drive, where a clearly marked sign directs attendees to the building on the left.

Those interested in volunteering can visit the Eastern Illinois Foodbank’s website to register and learn more about future events.
