CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Champaign County residents will have a chance to safely dispose of toxic household products at an upcoming Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Event on Saturday, August 9. Sponsored by the Illinois EPA, the drop-off event is open to all Illinois residents and will be held at the State Farm Center’s southwest parking lot off Saint Mary’s Road in Champaign, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pre-registration is required and opens Monday, June 16 at hhwevent.simplybook.me. Participants must select an available time slot. Upon registering, residents will receive a confirmation email or text, followed by a postcard “ticket” in the mail 5–10 days before the event.

Accepted items include oil-based paints, chemical cleaners, pesticides, herbicides, solvents, motor oil, antifreeze, CFL bulbs, and more. Not accepted are latex paints, propane tanks, medications, explosives, commercial waste, and biohazards.
