DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – On Tuesday morning, Danville Police responded to a report of shots fired near Fair Oaks Apartments.

At around 10:40 a.m., officers arrive to the scene near Clyman Lane and Fowler Avenue and learned an argument had taken place between several individuals, leading to a male subject brandishing a firearm and firing a shot into the air.

While investigating the incident, officers learned the suspect had fled the scene and entered a residence in the 900 block of Fowler Avenue. Officers made contact with the suspect, who ultimately agreed to exit the residence and was then taken into custody. During a search of the residence, officers located a firearm that is believed to have been used during the incident.

The suspect was identified as Antonio L. Chipman of Urbana. Chipman is currently being held at the Vermilion County Jail on preliminary charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon by convicted felon and an active arrest warrant out of Champaign County for escape from electronic monitoring.

A Danville Police Department press release shared that no injuries were reported during the incident, and that no other information is being released at this time.
